This weekend, I found heaven on earth.
I realize that’s a lofty statement, but I really mean it. You see, I ventured to a flea market this weekend. But it wasn’t just any flea market, oh no–it was a flea market full of food.
Smorgasburg (can I just say, what a killer name. Kudos to whoever came up with that one.) takes place every Saturday on the East River waterfront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Who’s there, you ask? Well, only 100 vendors peddling everything from fresh jams, to Asian inspired tacos, to produce grown on Manhattan roof tops.
This place was definitely a food lovers paradise–I can’t even tell you the amount of people I saw walking around Instagraming their food (I kept my number to a respectable two, thank you very much).
All the vendors brought interesting, original dishes to the table and the result was a cultural mash-up perfectly representative of New York City culture. We practically had to roll ourselves out of there, and spent the rest of the day in happily sedated food comas. So worth it.
New York, you found the quickest way to my heart: food.
