Is it just me, or have Europeans seemed to have mastered the perfect summer style? It’s breezy, simple and incredibly chic. It feels timeless while still screaming “cool girl.” I mean, I could go on and on. Europeans of the world, tell me: how do you do it?
While I’m sure it probably has something to do with stylish genetics, world-renowned cultural hubs and all those damn vacation days they get, I still am determined to master it for myself. I did a serious sweep of my closet this spring and got rid of many of my summer clothes–not with the intention of buying a bunch to replace it all, but I am looking forward to purchasing a few classic pieces (like a great pair of jean shorts and linen dress).
A bonus incentive: I’m actually joining the ranks of the Europeans this summer. Well, sort of! My family and I are going on an incredible vacation to Italy at the end of June (to Florence, Rome and the Almafi Coast), and I am jumping-out-of-my-skin excited. I feel so lucky to be able to go back to Florence, a place that is so special to me, and experience it with my family for the first time. My Mom visited me while I was abroad, but my Dad (whose family immigrated from Italy) and my brother have never been.
In addition to figuring out what new camera lens I should buy for the trip (any photogs with good travel lens suggestions, get at me!), I’m making a European-style wish list to help me pack.
