Well, hello there! You may notice things are a bit spruced up around here—today, The Glossy Life (sorry, it’s so weird to refer to a blog in the third person, right?) is debuting an updated look created by the incredible (seriously, incredible incredible) Jessica McSweeney, who owns her own company calligraphy company, Poppy and Scooter Calligraphy (brides-to-be, you’re going to want to check her out!).
I’ve known for a while that I’ve wanted to do a “rebrand” of sorts for The Glossy Life. My aesthetics have evolved since I last branded my blog, and I really wanted a new look that reflected both my vision for the blog and the ways in which I hope to grow it as time goes on.
When I thought about artists and creative friends who I knew would be able to execute the (admittedly loose) vision in my head, one person kept popping into my mind, and that was Jess. We connected a few years back through our blogs and I’ve loved keeping up with her creative pursuits since—it’s been so exciting to watch her grow her calligraphy business into a major success. If you’re not following her on Instagram, do it now—you’re seriously missing out on so many gorgeous styled shoots and script goodness.
After Jess so graciously agreed to work on a redesign with me, I put together a mood board for her. I’m not sure totally how to sum up the look I was going for, but I definitely wanted to include soft creams, blush, greens and an inky, deep blue—similar to the colors in eucalyptus and white anemones (as seen in this Insta from Jess!). Soft lace and flow-y, wedding-inspired looks rounded out my idea for a sophisticated, feminine and clean look.
Lucky for me, Jess was able to read through the lines (literally) and completely nail my vision with a gorgeous crest you’ll see on the right of the page, as well as a header and various words in a pretty inky blue in her signature script. I’m completely in love with the final product (I keep just staring at it!) and I know my blog can grow and take several different forms over time and still feel authentic to this look. That really excites me!
Anyways, I hope you guys like it—and feel like it’s a fit—as much as I do! I cannot recommend Jess enough to anyone looking to have work done for a special event or wedding. She is truly fantastic at what she does, and such a dream to work with! I’m thinking about putting her on reserve for my own wedding…several years from now 😉
